2019 Girls Cross Country

The girls cross country team was small but mighty this fall with 3 members. Freshman Jasmine Bunner, Junior Andrea Ruiz & Senior Monica Ruiz comprised the team. Jasmine ran three races for the team this fall and worked very hard to improve her times as the season progressed. Monica Ruiz came into her own having learned and mastered a difficult but efficient racing tactic of running from behind. Monica was able to catch as many as 30 to 40 runners in some invitationals from the mile marker to the finish. Monica ended up with 3rd Team All-Conference honors this fall. In fact, Monica has earned some level on all-conference honors, in all four years of her career. School record holder and (3x) Division 1 State Meet qualifier Andrea Ruiz finished 37th out of 265 runners, at this year’s State Finals. Andrea is also a (3x) FML Conference Runner-up; she also medaled in every invitational the team entered in this fall, for the third straight year.
