Steve Taylor graduated from Holly HS in 1993 as one of the more decorated athletes and students in his class. As a student, Steve carried a 3.93 cumulative GPA (good for 7th in his class), was a Member of the National Honor Society, and earned a perfect attendance award all four years of high school. As an athlete, Steve was a three year, three sport varsity athlete amassing a total of 9 varsity letters on the football field, basketball court, and baseball diamond. Steve was awarded the prestigious Karl Richter Award given to an athlete that had high character, displayed leadership, exemplified good sportsmanship, was a great teammate, and a good student. He also was honored as The State Bank Athlete of the Year beating out nominees from Fenton, Linden, Lake Fenton, and Hartland. Lastly, Steve also was awarded the Holly Optimist Club Student Athlete award in recognition of outstanding leadership that will guide our steps to a better future. Overall, Steve was the definition of what we want our Broncho student-athletes to be both in the classroom and on the athletic field of competition.

In the fall, Steve could be found on the gridiron as a member of the varsity football team. Steve was a three-year letter winner for the Bronchos starting at running back and corner back. Steve was named team captain, team MVP, all-tri county team, and first team FML both offensively and defensively during his senior year. Steve set the single game rushing record in 1993 when he rushed for 339 yards in a single game on just 14 carries and scored 4 touchdowns. It was also during his senior campaign on the gridiron that Steve won the Rev Marth Trophy.

During the winter, Steve took his talents to the hardwood where he was a three-year starter for the varsity basketball team and team captain his senior year. Steve led the team in assists and steals all three years and during his senior year was named to the all-tri county team.

On the baseball field is where Steve experienced his most success as a Broncho. Steve was a three year starter and team captain his senior campaign. He was a two-time team MVP, two-time all-tri county team selection, two-time first team all FML honoree. In addition to those honors, during his senior year, Steve was named both all-state for his play on the field and academic all-state for his work in the classroom. During that senior season, Steve batted .488 with 2 home runs, 61 RBI, 46 runs scored, and 51 stolen bases. Over his three years on the varsity baseball team, Steve amassed 147 stolen bases while only getting caught stealing 3 times. Steve also stakes claim to a no-hitter that he tossed on the mound during his senior year and never committed an error in the field during his senior campaign.

Following high school, Steve went on to Central Michigan University on a partial scholarship to play baseball for the Chippewas. Steve played 2 years on the JV team and 2 years on the varsity team at CMU where he was known for always being willing to do whatever it took to help his team be successful. Steve graduated from CMU with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. With this induction, Steve joins his aunt Sharlene (Taylor) Peters as a member of the Broncho Hall of Fame. Steve currently works at Continental Automotive and resides in Clarkston MI with his two boys Alex and Zach.
