Keith Perez was a standout baseball player during his time at Holly High School. Predominantly
a pitcher, Keith racked up many different accolades and accomplishments during his time as a
Holly Broncho. During his senior season, Keith was Honorable Mention All-State, First Team
All-Region, First Team All-District, Honorable Mention All-State from the Detroit Free Press,
ranked top-50 Baseball Player in Michigan by the Detroit Free Press and a State Bank Holly
Athlete of the Year nominee. Over his career, Keith was a two-time First Team FML honoree, a
two-time All Tri-County honoree, MVP of the Mott Community College Bruin Club High
School All-Star Classic, a three-time State Bank Athlete of the Week. In May of 1998, Keith was
presented with the Prestigious Karl Richter Award for his outstanding leadership and
involvement in school activities. Upon the completion of his high school career, Keith was
drafted in the 43rd Round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Detroit Tigers.

Keith decided to pass on the Major Leagues at this time to pursue his education and further his
baseball career at Western Michigan University on an athletic scholarship. During his time in
Kalamazoo, Keith excelled both in the classroom and on the diamond. During the 2000 season,
Keith was invited to participate in the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita,
Kansas and was named to the tournament All-American team as a pitcher and was also
awarded NBC World Series Leading Pitcher, presented by All Star Sports. In 2003, Keith was
named to the First Team All Mid-American Conference team as a pitcher. As of 2019, Keith is
listed in the Western Michigan Baseball record book, including being first in career strikeouts (288)
and third in career innings pitched (287). Keith graduated from Western Michigan University with a
Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 2003.

In 2003, Keith signed a free agent contract with the Oakland Athletics and was able to continue
his baseball career at the professional level for an additional three years. During this time, Keith
was a member of the Arizona A’s in the Rookie League during 2003, the Modesto A’s
(California Class High-A) in 2004 which resulted with a League Championship Ring, and the Kane
County Cougars (Midwest League Class A) during the 2005 season.

Following his baseball career, Keith earned his Master’s Degree in 2010 from Walden University
in Reading and Literacy and is currently teaching 3rd grade at Jo-Mackey Academy in Las Vegas,
Nevada. Never far from baseball, Keith started a baseball team at the academy. Keith is married
to his wife Karleen, and they have been blessed with four children, Braydon, Mackenzie,
Harper, and Cora.
