Molly was a three-sport athlete who earned 10 varsity letters in her tenure at Holly HS…four in basketball, three in volleyball and three in softball. Molly excelled athletically and was named the Tri-County Times athlete of the week 10 times…once during each of her varsity sport seasons.

Basketball stats for Molly her senior year spotlight an average of 16.6 points per game, 10.3 rebound average per game, 66 season steals, a free throw shooting average of 70% and 27 three-point shots. Each of these stats put her on the FML all time leader board. During her four-year career Molly scored 1,044 points!
Her basketball career highlights also include being named:

1st team All Area twice

Molly also earned FML honors in volleyball being named once 2nd team all league and once 1st team all league.

Now for Molly’s main sport…softball. Molly led the FML for batting all three years. Her junior year she average 0.621 and her career average is an amazing 0.534.
Her softball career highlights also include being named:

All District three times
All Region three times
Honorable Mention All State once and
All State one time

The local Kiwanis Club sponsors a renowned Athlete of the Month program and an Athlete of the Year program. Molly was name Athlete of the Month her senior year and in May was named the Kiwanis Club of Flint Female Athlete of the Year.

Molly also excelled in the classroom. She graduated with a 3.94 gpa earning her a spot in the top ten of 1995. She was a member of the student council, NHS, and French NHS. Molly served her classmates as their class secretary and was the treasurer of the NHS. Molly was the homecoming queen. She was recognized in the Who’s Who Among American High School Students, won the Daughter’s of the American Revolution Award and won the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association Scholarship.

This is not the end to Molly’s athletic career. She went on to Michigan State University where she excelled as a catcher…starting in that position for the Spartans three of her four years. She played in two Big Ten tournaments and 2 NCAA Regional tournaments. Molly was a Big Ten Scholar Athlete twice and was chosen as a Big Ten 3rd team athlete. As of 2005, Molly was still listed in the Spartan record books five times.

Molly graduated from Michigan State with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1999. She then earned her master’s degree in Engineering Science from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute in NY in 2002.

Molly married Matt Selan of Ohio in 2000 and they have a son named Matthew. Molly is currently an engineer for Whirlpool.
