L.M. Thomas was an outstanding Holly High School athlete in the sports of basketball and track and field.

LM was a four-year varsity basketball player. Two of those years he earned all league honors; his senior year he was all county.

In regards to his accomplishments in track and field, LM was league champion both his junior and senior years in the high jump and the long jump.

In the 1971, at the MHSAA state finals LM placed in four events (high jump, long jump, the 880 and the mile relay), thus leading his team to it’s first state team title. According to Holly’s Hall of Fame coach Duane Raffin, “LM was the best athlete in the class of 71”.

LM earned his Associate’s degree while playing basketball at Oakland Community College. He was not only an honor student but also voted All-American. Upon graduation from OCC, LM continued his education and basketball career at Northern Michigan University. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, again, with honors.

LM was invited to attend the Piston’s rookie camp after college. He had, however, subluxated his shoulder and therefore unable to make the team. LM moved to Europe and played basketball all over the continent for two years.

LM is employed at GM where he is a supervisor in the Truck and Coach Plant. He also owns LM Thomas International Construction in Birmingham and travels all over Europe.

LM currently resides in Southfield. He has two children, Nicholas and Stefani.
