HHS Class of 1965 (co-valedictorian)

Tom graduated from Holly High School in 1965. He was co-valedictorian of his class. He played football, basketball and baseball…each for three years. Tom made the All-County team in all three sports. In 1965 he was the basketball team's MVP. In a game against Brighton he set the single game scoring record, scoring 38 points…and this was before the three point shot.

Upon graduation he received scholarships to all three military academies. He chose West Point and while there lettered in baseball. In 1969 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Tom was honored as a Star Cadet which meant he was in the top 10% of his class. He then earned his Master’s degree at Princeton University.

Tom served in Vietnam where he earned several citations including the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. Upon return from Vietnam, he became an economics professor at West Point. He retired as a full coronal in 1993. In business, he was executive assistant to the chairman and CEO of Tenneco and a senior vice president at Washington Mutual. He currently owns and serves as President of MKRT Associates, Inc., which advises corporations on banking and real estate.

Tom is married to the former Katie Engle of Fenton and they reside in Honolulu, Hawaii. They have one daughter, Mollie, who lives in New York City.
