In 1978, Jeff captured the MHSAA State championship in the 880-yard run. In that same year, he defeated the Class A champion at the Oakland County meet with a still standing record time of 1:52.8.

Jeff won four Flint Metro League titles in the 440-yard and 880-yard races, setting league record times in both. His time of 1:54.9 in the 880-yard record still stands in the league.

In only two years of running cross country, Jeff lead the team to back to back state championships with a 4th place finish in 1979. He was an All-State selection in both track and field and cross country two years in a row.

Jeff attended Michigan State University on a partial track scholarship and represented the Spartans for four years. Jeff graduated with a degree in civil engineering and has worked for Ford Motor Company since his graduation.
