Josh Houldsworth competed as both a football player and wrestler during his time at Holly High School. Josh loved football, but wrestling is where he excelled. On the wrestling mat, Josh finished his high school career with a school record 235 wins and only 10 losses. His senior year, Josh was 61-0 which is also a school record for wins in a season. Josh was the ultimate leader in the practice room and mentored many of his teammates during this time as a Broncho. His teammates voted him team captain as a sophomore, junior, and senior and his leadership, work habits, and dedication set an example for his teammates. As a freshman, Josh finished 7th place in the state in his weight class. He improved that finished during his sophomore year, finishing 3rd overall. As a junior, Josh earned his first state championship and then backed it up again his senior year with another state championship. Josh was a four-time all-state wrestler. Josh also won the Oakland County Tournament four times, one of only three wrestlers to ever accomplish this feat in the over 60 years this tournament has been held. He was also awarded the Most Valuable Wrestler award three different times at the Oakland County Tournament. Josh was a four time FML Champion, was a two-time Tri County Times wrestler of the year, and following his senior year wrestled at Senior Nationals where he placed and became a High School All-American.

Josh also excelled in the classroom earning Academic All-State recognition. His athletic accomplishments, combined with his outstanding academic achievements earned him the honor of being named the Donald B. Sark Flint Area Kiwanis Male Athlete of the Year for the 2009-10 school year.

After graduating from Holly, Josh continued his education and wrestling career at Columbia University in New York City. At Columbia, Josh was team captain, and qualified for the NCAA Wrestling Championships two times. Josh was also recognized as a two-time NCAA Academic All-American. Josh graduated from Columbia with a degree in Economics.

Currently, Josh works at RHP Properities as Director of Asset Management and lives in Clarkston with his wife, Genevieve. In the summer of 2021, Josh was also named as the Varsity Wrestling Coach at Holly High School and is currently leading the program in which he starred as an athlete.
