Tim graduated from Fenton High School in 1965. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1971 and a Masters of Science Degree from Eastern Michigan in 1975.

Tim began his career in education at Holly High School in the fall of 1971, after spending the previous spring as an Assistant Track and Field coach at Carman High School.

During his first 25 and ½ years at Holly Tim taught Physical Education and English and coached numerous sports; Football (8 years as an assistant and 3 years as a head coach), JV Baseball, Freshmen Boys Basketball, Wrestling (2 years as an assistant and 4 as a head coach), softball, and girls basketball. In 1993, the Holly Girls Basketball team tied for the Flint Metro League Championship, won the District crown, and advanced to the Regional finals. Tim was named Oakland County Girls Basketball Coach of the Year at the end of the ’93 season.

During his tenure at Holly, Tim also officiated numerous contests throughout the state as a high school official for 12 years in football, girls and boy’s basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball, working numerous MHSAA District and Regional contests. He also umpired in the Holly Men’s and Women’s Slow Pitch Softball League for many years.

In the spring of 1997, Tim was an Athletic Director intern under George Lovich, and then he was appointed Athletic Director for the Holly Area Schools in June of 1997. He served in this capacity until his retirement in June of 2002—after 31 years in education (all at Holly). In his 5 years as Athletic Director, Holly hosted numerous MHSAA Tournaments in several sports. Tim also served on several committees of the MHSAA and the MIAAA (Michigan Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association).
