Rev. Bill McKenney was a three-sport athlete at Holly in football, basketball, and track from 1974-77. He was elected to the student council and the student representative to the district’s board of education. In 1977, he enrolled at Marquette University in Mikwaukee, Wisconsin. McKenney graduated with a degree in journalism in 1981 and began working for the Milwaukee Journal. The next year he joined the Society of Jesus, the Jesuit Order of Catholic preiests and was ordained a priest in June 1994. He spent the next four years as the president of the Red Cloud Indian School at the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. McKenney died January 30, 1998 at the age of 39
