Mark is a 1966 graduate of Holly High School. Mark played three years of varsity football, gaining over 3500 yards in his career. During his junior year, Mark scored 23 touchdowns and was named to the All-Conference and All-Oakland County team. As a senior he was All-Conference, All-Oakland County and All-State Class B. Mark was co-captain of the football team and was voted MVP both his junior and senior years. His touchdown career total was 51. In 1965, Mark led Holly to the MHSAA District Championship and to the MHSAA Regional finals.

Mark also played baseball. He was named to the All-Conference team his senior year. In addition to football and baseball, Mark ran track his freshman and sophomore years.

After graduation Mark played tailback at Western Michigan University. A severe knee injury ended his collegiate playing career. Mark is the only Holly HS football player to have his jersey retired.

Mark now lives in Clarkston with his wife Diane. He is employed by General Motors as a safety analyst.
