Kyle Keefer had a stellar athletic and academic career at HHS earning six varsity letters in football, basketball & baseball and graduating in the top 20 of his class. He was a member of the National Honor Society & the French National Honor Society.

Kyle played three sports, but excelled at football. He was team captain and earned 1st team Flint Metro League and All-State Special Mention. Kyle participated in the Michigan East / West football all-star game. Kyle’s name can still be found six times on our football record board. Records that still stand include: Most pass completions in a single game – 16 (1994); in a season – 78 (1993); in a career – 106 (1993-94), Most yards passing in a season – 1502 (1994); in a career 2642 (1993-94), Best punting average in a season – 37.3 (1994)

Additionally, a couple of really special honors were bestowed upon him while in high school. In 1995 he was name the Holly HS and the State Bank / Tri-County Times Male Athlete of the year. He also won the prestigious Livings’ Brother award that is given annually at the Holly Memorial Day Celebration. To this day, Kyle and his brother Kolby are the only brothers who have been given that very special award.

Hillsdale College, where Kyle lettered in both football and basketball was his next stop. He was the starting quarterback all four years and served as team captain. As a junior, Kyle earned the offensive back MVP award and as a senior was named team MVP. Kyle was recognized as a National Player of the Week and has been inducted into the Division II Michigan Football College Hall of Fame. Kyle set eight records while at Hillsdale. They include:

Most passing yards in a career – 6,051
Most passing attempts in a single game – 52
Most passing completions in a single game – 32
Most passing attempts in a career – 877
Most touchdown passes in a single game – 6
Most touchdown passes in a season – 24
Most touchdown passes in a career – 55

Another prestigious award Kyle won was the Michigan Football Division II Merritt McFarland Scholar-Athlete Award. Kyle was a member of the campus organization Fellowship of Christian Athletes while earning his Bachelors degree in mathematics and science.

Kyle is currently teaching math at Mountainview HS in Georgia and serves as the head freshman football coach and assistant varsity basketball coach. He and his wife Laura (a former volleyball player at West Carolina University) has three daughters – Evelyn Sue, Holly Ann, and Lucille Beth.

Tonight, Kyle joins his father Chuck Keefer who was a long time coach for HHS, as a distinguished member of Holly High Schools Hall of Fame.
